The bellowing of stag in little Scandinavia

When autumn comes, the forests of little Scandinavia echo with a hoarse and powerful cry: the bellowing of red deer stags. When the mating season is in full swing, the does gather at the ‘ruting grounds’. The numerous suitors gathered around the females then engage in impressive vocal contests, which sometimes end in antler-to-antler combat.

Between September and October, listening to the bellowing is always a magical moment, timeless and rich in emotion!

Outings organised by the tourist office

From 19 September to 11 October, Sumene Artense tourist office is offering guided tours for observing and listening to the deer rut.

At the end of the afternoon, participants gather for an educational presentation indoors, followed by a local aperitif. Next, they carpool to a secret location, which, after a short walk, leads to a rutting ground for an intimate encounter with the large deer. Immersion in the sounds of the Artense woods is guaranteed!

The meeting point will be indicated at the time of booking.
